The UVATS/RATS Masterclass held on September 5–6, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, marked another milestone in the collaboration between Reach Surgical and UMICS Academy. Together, we continue advancing minimally invasive thoracic surgery through expert-led training and hands-on experience with our latest medical devices.
This Masterclass welcomed 13 surgeons from Hong Kong, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Belarus, and Italy. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas Gonzaleand Prof. Dr. Javier Gallego Poveda, MD, PhD, FETCS, FACS, FESC , participants engaged in an intensive program combining interactive theoretical sessions, live surgical demonstrations at Hospital Lusíadas Saúde Lisboa, and hands-on cadaveric training at NOVA Medical School – Faculdade de Ciências Médicas.
A highlight of the Masterclass was the opportunity for surgeons to gain practical experience with Reach Surgical’s latest innovations, including the iReach Magnum powered stapler with its 55-degree articulation, the iReach Omnia vessel sealing system with specialized 30mm reloads, and the SR7 ultrasonic shears for secured vessel sealing up to 7mm. These sessions strengthened their surgical techniques while exploring solutions designed to enhance precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
