My Way of Entrepreneurship #1: Purpose & Duty

There have been rapid advancements in the medical device industry in recent years. Having worked with J&J and Boston Scientific for most of my career, I have come across many excellent medical devices and products with immense healthcare benefits.

However, these rapid advances have not been equally translated into available medical treatments in China and other emerging economies.

If any, they are expensive for many reasons, largely to do with the highly fragmented, high margin characteristics, and an inefficient medtech distribution channel that plague the Chinese medical device industry.

Regardless, the demand is booming. China is the 2nd largest medtech market and will continue with double-digit growth.

My way of entrepreneurship

With an aging population, the demand for high-quality medical devices continues to grow exponentially. I believe the same will apply to many emerging countries eventually.

The question begets, how can we provide high-quality, yet affordable products to the healthcare sector at speed and in doing so, make every treatment accessible to patients?

I knew then, there is only one way to answer this– We need to create a disruptive, innovative business platform that marries the best of global experience with local expertise.

We will work with the best minds across the globe to develop a value-focused therapy portfolio supported by the largest commercial network in China that prides itself on scalability, transparency and efficiency. In doing so, we will create real impact on the ground by making quality healthcare available and affordable to patients.

This is the driving force behind my choice and my way of entrepreneurship – Purpose and Duty.
