Recently, we found new and meaningful ways to contribute to MedTech by participating in a fundraising event to support a project (‘Life Science on Campus’) that brings life science courses to children in the rural regions of China. The project provides an opportunity for children to participate in hands-on experiments that will enable them to experience life science beyond textbooks. 

The fundraising event centred around a hiking event titled, “Keep Walking, Keep Moving forward with Love”, as part of celebrations to commemorate DeviceChina’s 10th anniversary. 

Harnessing the Collective Power of Genesis for Good
We formed a team to participate in the event and launched an internal fundraising drive digitally via WeChat among our employees. Through donations from staff, we successfully raised more than S$4000 within hours. This directly enabled more than 650 children to participate in the “Life Science on Campus” project.

On top of employees’ donations, we also participated in a charity auction. The item we put up for auction was a blue water-droplet shaped porcelain vase, which was successfully auctioned for more than S$600, adding to proceeds in enabling life science education for more children. 

Small In Stature, Big In Meaning
We selected blue for its close symbolism to life and the water-droplet shape signifies perseverance based on the Chinese idiom, 滴水穿石, which alludes to the penetrative power of water over time, eroding even the hardest rocks.

The vase signifies our company’s collective holding of love and hope that through the program, these children will be able to experience the wonders of life science and in due time, grow and persevere to achieve success in their endeavours and dreams.
